Tiera Wilson

Tiera is a fundamentally sound point guard.  She has a great speed, a good basketball IQ and gets her teammates involved with her ability to run the show.  She shows great leadership qualities and we feel with her skills she could become a offensive scoring machine whenever she decides to be more aggressive.  We are looking for more from this extremely talented player in the future.

Zaria Wright

Wright is an extremely athletic, strong bodied skilled point guard that has tremendous shooting ability that will allow her to move to the shooting guard position when needed. She was able to get to the basket, take the hit and while hanging in the air, have a strong enough body to finish the play which is a extremely mature skill for such a young player.  She has a deceptively fast first step and can get to the basket at will.  She needs to work more on the defensive end with her lateral movement and keeping the offensive player in front of her and  if she does her future will be extremely bright.

Erin Thames

She’s a very crafty ball handler with great speed and quickness.  She was able to slash to the basket, maneuver her body to get shots off amongst the bigger post players and finish with the best of them.  She has high motor and gets it done on both ends of the floor.  A player this young has the chance to be extremely special.

The Carolinas Elite 80 Future Stars exposure camp held in Columbia, South Carolina was a chance for a number of players from Colorado, North Carolina, and South Carolina to show where they were at now in their skill development and to see what players may end up being in the next few years and if they have the ability to play at the college level.  There were a number of standout players in the building and many have a bright future to play college basketball.  The lead trainer for the day was Coral Johnson who ran the girls through a variety of drills to test where they are now and give the players something to take home with them to work on.  Coach Johnson, a Gannon Baker certified trainer put the players through 2 sessions which focused on ball handling, shooting, and post and guard development. We will take a look a few of the stand out players starting with the 2014 Class.

She is small but extremely impressive guard with incredible ball handling skills.  She is a tenacious defender and is not afraid to get on the floor and mix it up all over the court.  She hs great lead guard skills and a above average basketball IQ which allows her to score against bigger, faster guards.  She is an extremely gifted shooter and is nice to play with because she sees the open man and is not afraid to pass the rock.  She has a bright future that well depend on her growth and ability to continue to improve upon her already gifted skill level

Taylor Toney

She was one of the most versatile players in the building.  Her 5’9 athletic frame at the guard position allows her to be imposing to other guards. She uses her strength and frame to rebound with tenacity over other players but also can handle the ball as well as any small point guard and shoot it with the best of them.  She is streaky 3 pt. shooter but backs it up with a great pull up jump shot from 8 to 10 ft.  She has the quickness to guard bigger post players and when matched up with them on the offensive end she’s able to punish the defender by blowing by them and getting to hole.  She has to get stronger when finishing around the basket but can be a dominating force with continued work on her game.  Another D-one athlete in the making, how high she goes is up to her.

Rashika White

She is an imposing force inside on the defensive end of the floor.  She is a tenacious shot blocker and her length changes a lot of shots that she can’t get to.  Players shy away from driving inside when they see her and she relishes the opportunity to get after the ball away from the basket as well.  She needs some polishing on the offensive end but her length, size, and defensive tenacity at 6’3 already has her pegged for a high major division one program.

Jaliyah Sanford

She is a player that has an extremely high motor.  She gets after it on both ends of the floor.  She has a solid body, good athleticism and is able to use great leverage to overpower players that are taller than her 5’7 frame.  A very good ball handler, she uses this to get a open look at the basket and can knock down her jumper with regularity from 3 pt  range.  We project Jaliyah will be a mid major division one player is she continues to progress on the same path she currently is on.

Breanna Richardson

She is a deceptively quick guard who excels extremely well in the transition game.  She has great court vision and makes the right decision when deciding to pass to a team mate or go to the rack herself.  Small in height she has big heart and loves to mix it up under the boards to pick up a rebound and immediately get out on the break to punish the team that doesn’t have the same desire to score as she does. She has good technique on her jumper and when it becomes more consistent she will be an extremely deadly offensive performer.

Haniyah Howard

A score first pass second strong wing.  She has the mentality that no one can stop her going to hole.  She compliments a strong slashing game with incredible accuracy in her jump shot from the 3 pt. range.  She has an extremely strong athletic body and is not afraid to overpower her defender and bull her way to the basket. She’s an extremely strong ball handler that doesn’t mind mixing it up underneath the boards to pull down rebounds in a crowd.  Howard is going to make some college coach extremely happy in the near future.
